When is the best time to kitesurf in Dakhla?
Dakhla is windy roughly 300 days a year. The main season runs September to May, with the strongest and most consistent trade winds from March to September. Winter days are still very reliable but slightly lighter, which suits beginners well. We run camps all season.
Do I need any experience to join a beginner camp?
None at all. The Beginner Kite Camp starts with a trainer kite on the beach and assumes you have never touched a kite. Most students are riding short distances by day three and riding upwind by the end of the week.
Is the lagoon safe for learning?
It is about as safe as kitesurfing gets. The riding area is waist to chest deep for hundreds of metres, the wind blows side-shore so it pushes you along the beach rather than out to sea, there is no shore break and no reef. Lessons are taught with radio helmets and a rescue boat on the water.
Is equipment included, or should I bring my own?
All camps include kite, board, bar, harness, impact vest and wetsuit. If you prefer your own gear, bring it — we have locked storage, rinse tanks and a repair bench, and we discount the camp price accordingly.
How do I get to Dakhla?
Fly into Dakhla airport (VIL), usually via Casablanca with Royal Air Maroc, or direct from Paris and Madrid in season. Every camp includes return airport transfers — we meet you in arrivals and it is a 25 minute drive to the lagoon.
What wetsuit do I need?
The Atlantic here is cool year-round: roughly 17-21°C. A 4/3 full suit is right for winter and a 3/2 shorty or full suit for spring and summer. Suits are included with every camp, so you do not need to travel with one.
Can non-kiting partners come along?
Yes, and plenty do. The Kite & Desert Adventure is built for mixed groups, and any camp can be booked with a non-kiting companion at accommodation-only rates. There are excursions running most days — the White Dune, the hot springs, the oyster farms and the Imlili oasis.
How do I book, and what is your cancellation policy?
Send the booking form or message us on WhatsApp. We confirm availability within 24 hours and hold your dates on a 30% deposit. Free cancellation up to 30 days before arrival; between 30 and 14 days the deposit is retained; inside 14 days the booking is non-refundable, though dates can be moved once at no cost.
